In the spring of 2005, the Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve Oktober Fest was formed as a major fundraiser for the Friends of SCPD. Volunteers and plans quickly fell into place and the first Oktober Fest was held that autumn. Since 2005, the Oktoberfest has grown significantly. It is held the first Sunday in October from noon until 5:00 PM at the Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve. The festivities include German food and music, wagon rides around the preserve, hiking, wildlife, log cabin exploration, children’s activities and more. Admission, parking and all activities are free. To volunteer to help with this event, contact the park district. All proceeds go to The Friends of Seneca County Park District. |
