For ages 12 to 17 years.  Join a naturalist as we discover new and exciting things in the nature preserve each month.  This month we will learn about the owls of our area and role they play in our environment.

For ages 6 to 12 years.  Learn about the different types of woodpeckers living  in our woods and then search for woodpeckers and their woodpecker holes.

Learn the lost art of hand rug-braiding.  Please bring a yard of cotton material, scissors, needle and thread.   No experience needed, just come have fun!  All ages welcome…..

Crisp & Cool Hike

Mercy Community Nature Preserve

Walk the trails as we enjoy the sights and sounds of the preserve.  This walk will last about 1 to 1 1/2hour and qualifies for the Walking Stick Program.

Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve

Wed-Fri, Dec 26-28 from 9AM to 12PM at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve.

For ages 6-12 years.  Enjoy winter as we learn about our freezing season, do fun science experiments, learn how our animals cope in the winter, and so much more. Dress for the winter as this is an outdoor camp. For registration form, click here.

Walking Stick Program:

Two hikes are offered each month.  One hike is at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve and is a nature walk bird talk.  The second hike is always at a different nature preserve with a different theme.  Attend 4 hikes and earn your walking stick.  Attend another four hikes and earn a medallion and so on.

Just sign in with the naturalist.  No time limits for earning your walking stick.  Benefits include: getting a little exercise, seeing some awesome wildlife, meeting some new people on the trail and last, but not least, it is Fun!
