Picnic Shelters and Roppe Lodge


Welcome! Thank you for considering the Seneca County Park District as the site for your next party, event or meeting. 

Picnic Shelters

The Seneca County Park District maintains 3 picnic shelters at different park locations. There are shelters at the following parks: Fruth Outdoor Center (shelter house), Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve (shelter house) and Tiffin University Nature Preserve (gazebo).

Roppe Lodge

Room Dimensions: Main Room is approximately 18' x 36'. Kitchen area is approximately 24' x 12'. Covered Patio is approximately 36' x 12'.

Tables and Chairs: There are ten (10) 6’ rectangle tables, one (1) 8’ rectangle table, 52 folding chairs, one large round table, and 6 non-folding chairs. Four picnic tables are located on the covered patio.

Paper and Plastic Products: Paper towels, toilet paper and trash bags are provided.

Alcohol: Is permitted at the Roppe Lodge only. Additional deposit is required if alcohol is present.

Recreation: The playground, a basketball court and multi-use sports fields are a short walk from the Roppe Lodge.

Internet: Not available.

Electrical Outlets: There are electrical outlets in the main room and in the kitchen area.

Kitchen Facilities: The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, range, oven, and sink. A fireplace is also located in the kitchen area. A charcoal grill and a fire ring are located adjacent to the covered patio.

AV Equipment: Not available.

Smoking: Smoking is prohibited inside the facility and within 25 feet of the facility entrance.

Dishes and Utensils: No dishes or utensils are provided.

Heat and Air Conditioning: The building is heated but NOT air conditioned.

Restrooms: The restrooms are located inside the Roppe Lodge.


The picnic shelters and the Roppe Lodge can be reserved when not in use for a park event. Shelter reservations have priority use. Otherwise shelter use is on a first come, first use basis. Reservations are highly recommended for use of any shelters, and are required for use of the Roppe Lodge. Reservations can be made with the Park District by calling (419) 447-8091 or emailing info@senecacountyparks.com or can be made in person during office hours. Office hours for the SCPD Main Office are 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday - Wednesday.

Special Events:
