Backpackin’ Babies—Backyard Birds

Just as children and adults need the great outdoors, so do babies. A little fresh air, the companionship of an adult and exposure to everything around them, create for a learning experience. Come in a backpack, front pack, stroller or just be carried as we walk the trail to the bird feeding stations to see who is there. Stories and friendly bird puppets add to the experience. Registration required at least 24 hours in advance of the program.

As part of our 25th anniversary, we are hoping to create more county park awareness and invite you to return for further exploration at each park. To start, visit a county park. At that park there will be a clue to indicate which park is next on the list. Visit all ten parks at your own pace.

All programs are free (unless otherwise noted) and open to the public. Social distancing and current protocols by ODH and CDC will be maintained.

WALKING STICK PROGRAM:

Three hikes are offered each month.  One hike is at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve and is a nature walk bird talk.  The second hike is always at a different nature preserve with a different theme. And the third hike is a Full Moon Hike.  Attend 4 hikes and earn your walking stick.  Attend another four hikes and earn a medallion and so on.   Just sign in with the naturalist.  No time limits for earning your walking stick.  Benefits include: getting a little exercise, seeing some awesome wildlife, meeting some new people on the trail and last, but not least, it is fun!

 

WALK & WREAD:
Once a month walk the Storybook Trail at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve for a new story. Walk and read at your leisure. Read six books and earn a prize. Co-sponsored with Bliss Public Library, Bloomville.
